Women's History Consortium
Local Grant Awards
In July of 2007, the Women's History Consortium, part of the Washington State Historical
Society, announced the availability of grants for Women's History Local Projects
for the 2007-09 Biennium.
Those grants were awarded to non-profit heritage organizations, tribal governments
and local government agencies located and conducting activities within the State
of Washington for programs and projects which interpret and preserve Washington
women's history in one of six theme areas.
The maximum award was $5000.00 and did not require a match, although extra consideration
was given to projects which used award funds to leverage other public or private
funds. Selection of projects was made by a sub-committee of the Women's History
Consortium Advisory Board. The WHC received 35 project proposals by the October
31, 2007 application deadline. Eventually, based upon available funding, 22 of those
project proposals were accepted. These successful projects must be completed by
June 30, 2009. Each of the projects will provide web-ready products which will be
available on the Women's History Consortium website.
