The San Juan Historical Museum
Oral History Project: Phase II

Phase II will digitize the existing oral histories for use by the Historical Museum, local libraries and local schools to teach about the early settlers of San Juan Islands. In addition, a Public Service Announcement (PSA) video will be produced and will highlight a few of the important contributions from people spoken about in the oral histories. The PSA video will entice those who watch to learn more and listen to the existing oral histories. Funding from this grant will be used solely for the digitizing of the oral histories from women and for the parts of the PSA about women. In fact, the vast majority of the oral histories (20) are about and from the women of San Juan Islands. Transcriptions will be completed for those women oral histories audible enough to ensure an accurate transcription (estimated - 15 oral histories).
