Finding Aids

During Phase I of the Women's History Consortium, the Center processed and produced archival finding aids for the following collections:

  • Robert Ashworth collection on the Union of Sexual Minorities Center
    The Robert Ashworth collection on the Union of Sexual Minorities Center (USMC) consists of the administrative records, program and activity materials, and publications of a student association at Western Washington University in Bellingham.
  • Gay and Lesbian Miscellaneous Manuscript Collection
    This artificial collection comprises materials donated from the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender community in Bellingham and Whatcom County, Washington, during the CPNWS Gay and Lesbian Archives Project in 2001-2002.
  • George and Lois Garlick Family Papers
    The George and Lois Garlick family papers document the lives and work of two long-time environmental activists and residents of Whatcom County, Washington.
  • Hands Off Washington, Whatcom County Coalition records
    Spanning the period 1988-1996, these records document the Hands Off Washington (HOW) campaign in Whatcom County, Washington. The collection contains administrative and financial records generated by HOW as well as a large amount of subject and reference material relating to gay and lesbian issues at the local, state, and national level.
  • League of Women Voters of Bellingham/Whatcom County records
    The League of Women Voters of Bellingham/Whatcom County Chapter records span the dates 1930-2000, with the bulk of the material dating from the 1960s to the 1990s. The collection is comprised of administrative materials, financial materials, and materials related to League activities, issues, and advocacy work.
  • Motherlode Records
    Motherlode is a lesbian folk group that played predominantly throughout the Pacific Northwest. The Motherlode records contain material spanning their more than twenty year existence.
  • National Organization for Women Whatcom County Chapter Records
    Records document the activities and concerns of this group of feminist activists based in Bellingham, Washington.
  • Whatcom County Nuclear Arms Freeze records
    The Whatcom County Nuclear Arms Freeze (WCNAF) records document a county wide campaign in Washington state against national nuclear arms proliferation from 1981 to 1986.
  • Women's Maritime Association records
    The collection documents the WMA’s work to eradicate sexual harassment and abuse on ships, and ensure equal pay and fair working conditions for seafaring women.
  • Women in the Commercial Fishing Industry Research Collection
    Oral history interviews, research files, clippings, articles, newspaper clippings, and bibliographies associated with issues affecting women working in the commercial fishing industry. These records were complied by Carole Teshima Morris.
  • Women of Fairhaven Records
    This collection comprises administrative and financial records, correspondence, records regarding club activities, and documents relating to the Fairhaven Hotel, in Bellingham, Washington.
  • Young Women's Christian Association of Bellingham records
    The Young Women's Christian Association (YWCA) of Bellingham records span the dates 1906-1994. The collection comprises administrative, financial, committee and program records, as well as photographs, scrapbooks, and newspaper clippings documenting the concerns and activities of the organization.

The Center's holdings also include several other collections relating to women's history:
