In honor of March, Women's History Month, the Women's History Consortium and the Washington State Historical Society present David F. Martin speaking on Northwest Women Artists, 1890-1950: Reviving Reputations.

Mr. Martin is co-owner of Martin-Zambito Fine Art in Seattle, WA. He is an independent arts researcher, curator and historian focusing on the art history of Seattle and the Pacific Northwest as well as Western New York state. Some of the artists that Mr. Martin will discuss are Louise Crow, Yvonne Twining Humber (1 | 2 | 3), Z. Vanessa Helder (1 | 2), Virna Haffer ( 1 ) and Ella McBride.

His most recent book is An Enduring Legacy: Women Painters of Washington, 1930-2005, University of Washington Press. He is currently completing a book on the history of Pictorial Photography in Washington State to be published in 2009.


About the Washington State Capital Museum and Outreach Center

The State Capital Museum and Outreach Center is located in the historic Lord Mansion, seven blocks south of the capital campus in Olympia, at 211 21st Avenue SW. The museum is dedicated to preserving and interpreting the history and culture of Washington and features two floors of exhibits.
