Mrs. Gerald Claussen began her administration by changing the Gold Key back to the Blue Ribbon Award.
The Mid-Year Board meeting was in Richland with an attendance of 169.
Business for Beauty was a GFWC contest. The "Sudden Death" education of the public was moved under Home Life. Project Concern was a new GFWC project under International Clubs, and Crusade for Change was another GF project concerning mental retardation. Jeannie Clegg was named Clubwoman of the Year.
An age-guidelines committee was appointed but no solution was reached, since half preferred an age limit and half didn't.
Karen Clark was convention chairman in 1970 and welcomed 379 Juniors to Yakima's Holiday Inn. Donna Smith was named State Clubwoman of the Year, and Kathy Estep was chosen as Advisor of the Year.
Mrs. Robert Silk, GFWC Director of Juniors, represented GFWC at the convention. She was presented a charm from each district in the state.
A bylaw change was voted to read "young women between 18 and 39." $460 was reserved for badly needed office equipment for the state. A committee was appointed to study possible boundary changes that would benefit the Junior Membership.
The Juniors in principle supported the reform of the Washington State Abortion Law. Dr. Pat, Project Cancer and Operation Healthy Babies continued as state projects.
