The 1976-78 Director Carolyn Hill's theme was "If it is to Be, it's Up to Me."
Hosting the GFWC Convention in Seattle June 510, 1977, was the highlight of this administration. All clubs in the state worked toward this event with Nancy Jones serving as Junior Chairman.
There were 58 clubs with 778 members and 178 attended the state convention in Bellevue. Dues were raised to $1.35 and $350 was given as the Education Scholarship. Carlene Garner, Tacoma, was named Clubwoman of the Year.
Northwest Kidney Center and Juvenile Diabetes were the State Projects.
One hundred and ten Juniors attended Mid-Year Board in Ellensburg. Bylaws were once again revised.
A scholarship in the amount of $300 was given at the Spokane Convention before 222 members. Joy Pults, of Sumner, was named Clubwoman of the Year in 1978; while Juanita Perkins, Bremerton, was named Advisor of the Year.
A new traveling award (a gavel) was presented to the state by Carolyn Hill.
An outstanding convention highlight was President Carter's visit to the hotel where the convention took place.
Mrs. Oscar C. Sowards, GFWC President-elect installed the new officers.
